Balthazar den Breems

After completion of my studies at the secondary hotel school and business economics at the HEAO I started my career with UNIGRO ( now LAURUS ) - a supermarket chain - as financial, commercial and business consultant for local unit managers. My first experiences in mergers and acquisitions date from that time. Simultaneously I completed my study Business Science at university (2003).
I extended my expertise in mergers and acquisitions with BRUNA (bookstores) which was then part of Koninklijke Bijenkorf Beheer (Holding company of large Dutch retailer). At a later date it became part of the Post-Offices Group (ING and TPG). Within a space of some three years about a 100 new BRUNA outlets saw the light.

After this interesting experience I wanted to further develop myself. The next six years I was employed by KPMG Corporate Finance. I was involved in complex acquisitions and matters of succession in various business sectors. I was focused on companies up to 200 FTEs, business transactions up to 20 million euro and single ownership by managing director, also being major shareholder.

On April 1st 2005, my old KPMG colleague and good friend Remco Schouten and I, founded DB& S.
